What is People and Groups in Netigate Surveys?
People and Groups in Netigate Surveys allows you to manage all the users (employees, customers, or participants) connected to your surveys and feedback projects. With this feature, you can:
Add and manage people in your organization.
Organize people into groups for easier targeting and analysis.
Import and sync people automatically from Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure AD).
Add custom background information to people for more powerful reporting.
This helps ensure that your survey distribution and insights are always linked to the right people and groups, and that you have the flexibility to organize them in a way that makes sense for your business.
Why should you care?
Creating an organizational structure allows you to send recurring emails to specific sections of your organization. Things like consistently emailing members of a specific office, department, team, or role. This org structure can also update automatically, if integrated with Microsoft Entra.
In short, you’ll spend less time managing contact lists and more time learning from your data.
How to get started
To start, navigate to the People and Groups tab at the top of the page:
From there, you have three main ways to create your organization structure:
Integrate with Microsoft Entra (recommended)
Upload an Excel with your organization details
Add people manually
1. Integrating with Microsoft Entra
If you already manage users in Microsoft Entra, you can save time by importing them directly into Netigate.
One-time import: Quickly bring in your existing users.
Ongoing sync: Keep Netigate updated automatically when people join, leave, or change roles in Entra.
During setup, you’ll be able to generate a secure access key in Netigate and configure attribute mapping in Entra.

2. Upload an Excel with your organization details
You can add people by importing an Excel file. To start, go to "Import People" fromt the left side menu, and then download the template Excel.
When adding someone, you can include their basic details (such as name, email, and role) and assign them to one or more groups.
Tip: Groups are flexible – a person can belong to several groups at once. For example, someone might be part of both Marketing and EMEA Office.
2. Adding people manually
People and Groups also allows you to add people manually, and also edit existing people.
Create new groups at any time.
Add or remove people from groups.
Use groups to send surveys to specific audiences.
This makes it easy to run targeted surveys and analyze results by team, department, or region.
Sometimes you need more context than just a person’s name and email. Background data fields let you add custom information such as:
Manager
Location
Tags (skills, projects, etc.)
Contact details (phone number, email)
Other business-specific attributes
You decide which fields to add, and Netigate will store them automatically. These fields can then be used for filtering, reporting, and deeper insights.
Restore Deleted People
If someone is deleted by mistake, you can restore them within 30 days. Feedback keeps an archive of deleted people for this period so you don’t lose important data.
Security and Privacy
People data often includes personal information. Feedback ensures that data is stored securely and follows industry best practices. Deleted people are anonymized after the 30-day retention period to protect privacy.
